Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe overseas clinical practicum experiences among South Korean nursing students.
Methods: Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 12 nursing students in South Korea. Colaizzi¡¯s phenomenological method was used for data analysis.
Results: Eleven theme clusters and four categories were generated. The four categories consisted of ¡®trustworthy safety management system¡¯, ¡®environment where one can demonstrate nursing competency¡¯, ¡®pride and satisfaction as a professional¡¯, ¡®crystallizing one¡¯s dream toward becoming a nurse¡¯.
Conclusion: These results will contribute to developing strategies for South Korean nursing students in successfully completing their overseas clinical practicum.
